Vigiles is Latin for Watchman; the Romans translated it as Vigiles Urbani (Watchman of the City).  They were the men who watched over Rome as the city slept.  They first started as a fire watch and later the detail of being a security force was added.  They were responsible for apprehending thieves, guarding the bath houses, and to deter crime.

Today’s security is not much different than that of the Vigiles Urbani of Rome.  Today’s security is there to respond to the reports of possible crimes as well as to deter crime as a whole.

David Rimmer is the owner and lead instructor of Vigiles.  In 2016 he attended the North Carolina Private Protection Service Unarmed Security Officers Instructors course.  David has spent the last year working with a private security company teaching the Unarmed Security Officer course.  In the summer of 2017 David started Vigiles to help continue the tradition of training the next line of watchmen.
